The SPMH volunteers comprise an extremely talented and valuable resource within the hospital. The volunteers assist visitors at the information desks, work on patient floors, serve as messengers, deliver flowers and mail and help out at various hospital-sponsored community functions.

A recent addition to the volunteer effort is a Junior Volunteer program, which provides an opportunity for young people to work in the hospital during the summer months.

Besides volunteering their time, the Auxiliary members also raise money for the hospital through sales in the gift shop and other activities. These funds are returned to the hospital through the purchase of needed equipment and furnishings, as well as the sponsorship of generous scholarships that assist LVN and RN nursing students . Over the past 10 years, the SPMH Auxiliary has supported the hospital with more than $250,000 in equipment gifts and nursing scholarship funds. New volunteers are always welcome.
