Before & After Baby
Childbirth Education
Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital offers this one-day class for pregnant women and their partners with the purpose of providing information on pregnancy, physical changes in pregnancy, stages of labor, anatomy and physiology, pain relief measures, care of the newborn and self-care issues during post-partum.

Place: SPMH, 4th Floor
Cost: Classes are free and open to the public, but there is a $25 fee if attendees are not delivering their child at SPMH.

Infant Nutrition
This class is for parents who are interested in maximizing the health and well being of their newborn through proper nutrition choices. This class will provide an overview of breastfeeding and will also include helpful techniques and useful equipment. Classes are taught by Patricia Fifer, a peer lactation counselor.

Baby Safety, First Aid and CPR
Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital offers this class designed to provide you with helpful information to keep your baby safe and healthy during infancy. Topics covered include car seat safety, water safety, how to “baby proof” your home, medication tips and infant/child CPR.

Riders Child Safety Seat Distribution and Education Program
The coordinated efforts of Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital and the Texas Department of State Health Services present a statewide child safety seat distribution and education program as required by Texas Law. The goal of the program is to provide low-income families with a child safety seat and the required education on safe installation and use.
Date: Second & Fourth Thursday of the month
Time: 9:00am-10:00am
Place: Townhouse Classroom (On Water Street across from Sid Peterson Parking Garage)
Cost: Free
